Why Not I began as an idea sparked by a personal journey. Founder Kofi Josephs, a professional basketball player who represented Team England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and competed internationally for Great Britain, is also a dedicated mental health advocate. He has experienced firsthand the intense highs and lows of a high-performance lifestyle. As he navigated his own challenges, Kofi realized the need for a supportive community that speaks openly about mental health and offers real tools for inspiration, aspiration, and mental health education.
Driven by a vision to bridge the gap in mental health education, Kofi founded Why Not I to empower individuals in inner-city communities through accessible, meaningful support. What started as a mission to share knowledge evolved into a movement to break down the stigmas surrounding mental health and provide a source of inspiration and aspiration for those striving to lead better lives. Today, Why Not I reaches people through community activations, engaging programs, and powerful keynote talks, offering a unique blend of education, empathy, and encouragement to help individuals realize their full potential.
At Why Not I, we believe everyone has the power to overcome life’s obstacles with the right guidance and community by their side. Kofi’s journey fuels our mission—to create lasting impact and change lives, one conversation, one activation, and one story at a time.
