Why Not I teamed up with Doncaster Rovers to deliver an impactful session on mental resilience, well-being, and the mindset needed to succeed both on and off the pitch. Led by Kofi Josephs, former GB & England Commonwealth international and mental health advocate, the session focused on managing pressure, building resilience, and prioritising mental health in elite sports.
This workshop aimed to provide players with the tools to maintain their mental strength and performance under stress, while reinforcing the importance of supporting their well-being throughout their careers. By sharing personal insights and strategies from his own journey, Kofi inspired the players to think beyond the game and focus on their holistic development as athletes and individuals.
At Doncaster Rovers, the focus on player welfare is paramount, and this session was a crucial step towards fostering a culture where mental health is as valued as physical skill, encouraging the players to approach challenges with a balanced and resilient mindset.
“What I loved about Kofi’s workshop is that he didn’t just turn up in the afternoon and deliver his presentation, like a lot of guest speakers do. He arrived in the morning and spent all the day with the lads, watching them train and getting to know them through informal chats. By the time it came to his presentation in the afternoon they already had a rapport with him so it made it a much more relaxed environment. Kofi’s story is a great one and our lads found it really relatable, they loved having him in for the day.” - Greg Carroll (Head of Academy Player Care at Doncaster Rovers FC)
